Even Levi had fun!

This past friday night Grant had his baseball party. We went out to his Coaches inlaws house. It was a gorgeous night! Their place is beautiful. All the boys swam and had great time. All the parents collected money and were able to give the coach 3 gift cards to Starbucks, Outback and Bass Pro Shop. Coach Mark got a little emotional when he handed out trophies. He really is the best coach ever. We are hope to be all on the same team again next Spring. It will all depend on if his son can has to move up or not.

Machine Pitch Baseball

After 2 years of tball, Grant was finally able to play machine pitch!! We were so excited! Honestly, don't think I could have watched another season of tball. Tball was fun and everything but Grant was ready for more. We ended up being on a great time. The team was made up Eden Garden, Calvary and Word of God kids. Most of the kids go to church with us, so does the coaches. We loved Coach Mark! He was paient, kind, respectful, encouraging, and a great role model for the boys. He played fair and spent the season rotating the boys through the different positions. He said this year was a year to have them try each spot and learn the skills. It was so neat and exciting to see how the boys progressed each game. By the end of the season, they were hitting through thier line up! Grant is a natural ball player, which makes Dan very happy since this is his sport. He especially great when he played short stop and 3rd. He was given the game ball twice during the season. He treasures those balls and I need to get a case for them. Here are just a few of the snap shots during the season.

Grant kept going back and forth between having a skating or a pool party. He finally decided 2 weeks ago that is would be a sim/baseball party. We were hoping he would pick swimming since the pool is free! We decided to have his birthday on the last day of school before everyone went out of town for vacations. We had his party down at the farm. He asked all the kids bring their baseball gear and wear swimming suits.
Thankfully, the weather turned out to be beautiful. It threatened to rain and thundered for about 30 mins. long enough to eat cake and open presents.Grant had a blast with his school, neighborhood, and church friends. He is very bless to have so many good kids as friends. They all have such wonderful and loving parents. Grant
got in the car at the end of the party and said, "Mommy, that was the greatest party ever!" He's excited to use all his birthday money on DSI games and baseball stuff.

This is Grant holding back tears!

First of, I can't believe I'm a mom to an up and coming 2nd grader!!!! I used to teach 2nd grade and this can't possibly be happening! Anyways, Grant has had a fantastic year. God has blessed us so much to be able to put him in a small Christian school. He has blossmed and grown into a more confident child. He was awarded 3 awards today. One for returning all his books to the library (don't know how that happened), Honesty Award (very proud of this one), and AB honor roll. Grant was devasted to not get all A's the last nine weeks. He missed it by a point. He bawled during the awards program. We had to take him out. Its so hard when you are a competive child. It's great as an adult, but he hasn't learned to control himself when he isn't the best in something. We are very proud of him and told him that. He's so hard on himself that it breaks my heart. He was more upset because he missed out on the reward. The all A's kids get to have a pool party with Mr. Hearon. I really pray that he learns quickly to be happy for the kids who accomplished the best and that its ok not always win or come out on top.

Playdate at the Park

Yesterday a couple of our friends met for a playdate. I'm so excited that school is almost out! Playdates will become a weekly part of our week! The weather was great and the kiddos had a great time. I love the park we went to because it's never busy.Micah had fun pushing his trucks and going down the slide. Levi slept for most of the playdate, but woke up long enough to play in the sand. I think he's going to enjoy the beach in 2 weeks!

Micah"s K3 End of Year Program

I can't believe Micah has finished his first year preschool! He had so much fun being a Safari Scout this year. He was so small and cried off and on the first month of school. Now he begged to go to school and wants to go everyday. His school does the same K3 program every year. When Grant was in K3 he was in the wind in the kite song. Micah got to be in the longest song, The Number Rumba. He hated music class at the beginning of school. He would sit in his teacher's lap and not sing. At the end of the year, it was one of his favorite activities. Alot of my pics turned out blurry. I really need to take a photo class and learn how to really use my camera.

Lily came to hear Micah sing. We can't wait until next year when they are together again.

Grant Learns to Ski

We took our first trip to the lake this afternoon. It was a beautiful day, a little choppy but relaxing. Some friends of ours had some kid size skis. So Grant had to give it a try. We weren't sure if he would get up his first time trying. He surprised us and took right to it. He was able to get up and stay on his second try! He was so proud of himself!

Trip to the Dentist office

Micah went to the Dentist for the very first time back in June. Grant's been a couple of times, but has never allowed them to take his x-rays. He would always gag. This time I bribed him with money. I told him I would give him $5 if he would like them take pictures of his teeth. Well, that did the tricked. The hygenist came out and said he was almost in tears, but was brave and stayed still long enough for them to snap a pic! I was so proud of him! The x-rays should he had no cavities and that his teeth are perfect. He still hasn't lost any teeth (he's very anxious too, since all his friends have lost teeth).
Micah had a hard time that day. It took him forever for him to let Dr. Cook look in his mouth. We found out the next day why. He ended up being sick and was sick off and on for 3 weeks. Hopefully, next time he'll enjoy it more.

Skate Party

The boys went roller skating for the first time back in June. They were invited to Marlee's 6th birthday party. Micah took right too it. Grant on the other hand had a hard time skating. He was nervous and scared. I don't think Micah knew to be scared he went right out there and started moving. That boy is fearless. Grant is like me and more cautious about things.

I know I'm 2 months late posting this, but I've been a little busy. First, our computer crashed. Then with being in my last trimester I had no energy to do anything extra on the computer. So we celebrated G's 6th birthday at Kid City. Love that Place! We invited mostly church friends, neighbors, and a couple of friends from school. G had a great time playing all the video games and messing around on the indoor playground. He loves American Presidents so his request was for an American birthday party. He wanted a Mount Rushmore cake. Talk about being difficult to find someone to make that cake! Nobody could do it. So I finally had to take a picture to Walmart and have them scan it on to a cake. I was very disappointed in how it turned out, but G liked it. That's all that matters in the end. He's already been telling me what kind of party he wants next year!

A couple of weeks ago, M was invited to his friend Brook's 2nd birthday party. It was pirate themed, so of course I made sure his outfit matched the occasion. The party was at Brook's house. His mom, Kristen, knows how to throw a party. Her parties are always a lot of. The kids had a geat time playing, eating all the cookies, and making crafts. A couple of our little friends couldn't make it due to sickness and being out of town.

Freddie the Fish

My parents came into town last Friday. They wanted to get Grant a little something for finishing Kindergarten. He decided he wanted a fish. We headed to PetSmart to pick one out. He had a goldfish before from Walmart, but it quickly died. So we thought the fish from Petsmart might be in better health. He picked out a bluish color beta fish. The easiest type of fish to take care. Mamaw and Papaw bought him a tank and supplies. Grant decided to name him Freddie. I have no idea where that name came from.

An old friend comes to town

Our friends the Cole's were in town from Mobile last week. Philip and Grant are about 7 weeks apart. They were in the nursery as babies, played all the time as toddlers, and started preschool together. They moved about 3 years ago so that Philip's dad could finish his residence. We miss them so much! The neat thing about their friendship is that we can months without talking to them, but when we meet up its like no time has passed.
Kim and the boys came over for a playdate. We were able to play outside before a huge storm hit. Micah and Andrew got along great. They haven't been around each other much since Andrew was just a baby when they moved and I was pregnant with Micah. The boys all had a great time spending time with each other. Lauren and the girls came over later and joined the fun, but I forgot to take pictures of all of them. We hope that they move back or closer whenever Philip gets done with his residence.

Surprise Shower for Ms. Kidwell

We threw G's teacher, Ms. Kidwell a surprise shower after the end of year party. Ms. Kidwell will soon be Mrs. Hall. The kids have enjoyed being in her class as she shared details of her upcoming wedding. Her fiance was the class postman. Everyweek he would send the class a letter telling them what skills they were going to learn during the week. He even made a couple appearances. They are getting married in June and we can't wait to attend! G only wants to go so he eat some cake!

End of Year Party

Last Wednesday, M and I headed out to G's school for his end of year party. M was so excited about being at school with G. Most of the activities took place outside. I was so glad that it was first thing in the morning, the weather was perfect. That was the last comfortable day outside. Its been in the high 90's ever since that day. Anyways, they had a water gun fight, played with a parachute (M's favorite), bounced in the bounce house, drew with sidewalk chalk, made a picture frame and watched a DVD that Ms. Kidwell had made with pictures from the year. I can't believe this year went by so fast!

G's Kindergarten Celebration!

G and Ms. Kidwell G, Luke, and Walker I can't believe my baby boy has completed kindergarten!! I cried this morning in bed. It's all bittersweet! I enjoy that he is older and more independent, but also sad since he needs me less and less. I felt so old this morning. I can't imagine what I'll feel like when the baby is graduating. University had their kindergarten celebration at Gateway Church. The school could not hold everyone. There were over 160 kindergarten kids this year at the school. Gateway was nice enough to open their doors. The kids sang about 5 songs and then showed a DVD of clips from the year. G had grown so much this year physically, spiritually, mentally. He has had a Christian teacher who has loved on all her students. He can read books, excels at math, and loves to learn about the Presidents. His best friends at school were Walker, Joshua, and Luke. After much prayer and thought, G will be going to a different school in the fall, as will his best buddy, Walker. We have enjoyed the location of UES and his teacher, but the size of the school is way too big. There are many opportunities G is missing out on by being at such a large school. The school is built for around 500 students. There are over 1200 students attending this year. We will be sending him to a much smaller, private school in the fall. We are very excited about all the possibilities and learning experiences!

Opening Weekend at the Pool

Yeah!!! The pool opened up this weekend! It's gotten so hot so fast here that I'm dreading the months of July and August. Luckily, we have the pool. We tried to go last weekend. We got the boys all ready, loaded in the bike trailer and off they went. When they got there the gate was locked. G had a melt down! So this weekend, we called before we went. The pool was packed! G picked up right off from last year. He's a really good swimmer and has taught himself. We are debating putting him in swim lessons for technique reasons. M loved the kiddie pool and is our more cautious one. We took is life jacket off to see what he could do, but he freaked out! He wanted is jacket back on! We spent both Saturday and Sunday out at the pool. This coming Friday it officially opens up for everyday use. You can count on us being there as much as possible!

Hidden Oaks Farm

I went with to G on his last field trip of the year. They went out to Haughton to a petting zoo, Hidden Oaks Farm. G rode the bus and I drove out there to meet them. Well, my GPS took me to the wrong place. It took me to a power plant. I started to get worried and felt like a horrible mom. I thought G was going to get there and be upset. I drove around for about 45 mins looking for the place. My phone had no reception, so I couldn't call anyone. I finally drove into town and stopped at a store. They pointed me in the right direction and I was finally able to get ahold of Dan who gave me better directions. I finally got there thinking I'm so very late. When I pulled in the kids were just getting off the bus. They left school later than they wanted to since the bus was late. So G had no idea that I was late! Another mom showed up about 30 mins later saying her GPS took her to the same power plant! This is like the 3rd time my GPS has taken me to the wrong place. The actually farm ended up only being about 20 mins from my house going in the opposite direction than my GPS told me to go!
G had a blast playing on the swing set, riding the train, and feeding the animals. His favorite was this little bitty goat. He was smaller than our dog, Gunner. He came right up to G wanting the food. We stayed for about 3 hours.

80's Bunco

This month's bunco was 80's themed. Stacy hosted and made some delicious pulled pork for sandwiches, potato skins and a wonderful strawberry cream dessert. Half of us dressed up in 80's style. When I was leaving to go bunco, G asked me why I dressed up. I told him it's for an 80's party, He looked at me confused and and asked what's the 80's! I tried to explain, but he didn't get it.

11 years

Sunday, Dan and I marked our 11th Wedding Anniversary. I seriously cannot believe that it's been 11 yrs. The years have flown by quickly. God has blessed with a wonderful, fun, awesome, helpful, helpmate. I could not go through life without him. He means the world to me. There are many days where I don't show my love and appreciation for him enough. He works so hard to provide for us so I can stay him. He is a spiritual leader in our home as well as church. He has the respect of many people around him. He is also the best dad ever. The boys love him dearly and can't wait until he comes.
This year, our friends the Patton's kept the boys overnight Friday. We went to eat at Ernest. I had the the crab claws and shrimp dish. The bread is to die for, I think Dan probably ate at least 5 pieces! They brought a piece of a cake out for us since it was our Anniversary. After dinner, we went and saw Letters To Juliet. By far the best movie I've seen in a long time! It was clean and funny.
It was so nice to be able to have the house to our self and not have to worry about kids waking up in the middle of the night. We even got to sleep in to around 8 Saturday morning. Those of you have family around you that keep your children overnight, you are very blessed. We have decided that every other month we are going to keep each other's kids so we each can have a night away.
On our actually anniversary, we went to church and then met my in laws for lunch at Ruby Tuesday's. Dan gave me a new James Avery charm for my bracelet. We ended the day by trying to go to the neighborhood pool,but it was closed. G was heartbroken.I thank God that He has blessed us with 11 yrs and pray that we have many more years to come.

Fun in the Sun

It's been so nice around here the last couple of days. We have basically been spending most of our days outside. The boys have been playing on the trampolin, running through the sprinker, "swimming" in the kiddie pool, or hanging out with all the kids on the street. We have 21 kids on our street! One family has 8 kids. Most of the kids are G's age, so he has a blast! M thinks he just has big as them and thinks can he run up and down the street with them. I have to keep a close eye on him or he's running across the street!

Lake Day

This morning we went out to Cypress Lake with our friends the Pattons. They bought a ski bought a couple of weeks ago and this was our first time to go on the boat with them. We didn't know if we would be able to go out first since it rained all Friday night and was raining when we woke up. Around 9:30 it cleared it up so we decided to give it a try. There was no one on the lake and the even though it was overcast the day was perfect. In fact, both boys have red faces from being out on the lake. They each took turns tubing and Dan tried out the skis. Since Dan, has lost so much weight, he was able to ski the best he has in a couple of years. I was bummed since I had to sit out on the tubing and skiing since I'm 29 weeks prego, but I did enjoy relaxing on the boat. Afterwards, we grabbed at late lunch at Scott's parent's house. Both boys crashed on the way home from being outdoors all day. I'm loving this time a year when school is about it, the weather is perfect for being outside, and spending time with friends.

MDO

I'm so sad! Yesterday was M's last day of MDO ever! He will start preschool (MWF) in the fall. He has learned so much at MDO this year. We went through a phase where he cried everytime he went, but by the end he loved it. He had great teachers, Ms. Doris, Ms. Rebecca(who left half through to have her baby), and Ms. Kim. I credit Ms. Kim for M being potty trained so fast. She did a great job and helped him so much at school. I know M will miss his buddies. Some he will see at church, others are going to the same preschool and the rest who knows when we will see them again. I will miss having him there 2 days a week, especially since I'm now in my the 3rd trimester. I enjoyed those 2 days to run errands, have lunch with friends, and get things done around the house. I will enjoy having him at home more. In less than 2 weeks, I'll have both my boys home all day. Start saying your prayers now;)!

Tball

G had his last tball game on Thursday. This year we decided to play with Shreveport Little League instead of the YMCA. We loved the difference. So much more organized and the season was better. We played during the months of April and May. The main reason I liked it so much was that we didn't have to play on Saturdays. We usually played twice a week during the weekdays. It was very freeing not playing on the weekends. He played with a couple of boys from church. This is his last year for tball. Next year he will play machine pitch. We hope to keep this team together and move through the system as a team. G improved a lot from last year. He actually understood the concepts and skills of tball. His hitting improved. In fact, his hitting was so good that he hit a couple of players. One game the player on the pitcher mound had to leave the game because G nailed him in the face. The kid was okay. He has his tball party next week where he'll recieve his trophy. M enjoyed being at the ballfield, but its no fun having a potty training child out there. We were constantly going back and forth. Also Grace, the sister of one of G's teammates helped out a lot. She would walk around with him and entertain during the games so I could watch. Dan was one of the coaches. Field Day

G had field day last Friday. The K-2 had theirs first thing in the morning. The weather was perfect, not to hot with a slight breeze. Each grade stayed in one general area which helped a lot since there are over a 1,000 kids at the school. We even lost a student for awhile, she decided she had to go to the bathroom and left without telling Ms. Kidwell. The kids had a blast. It was real laid back and nobody took score. They were all relay events. G favorites were the sack race and the float relay. After the races, they had a time where they could buy snacks and hang out with their friends.

Awanas

G started Awanas this past fall out at his best friend's church. This was our first time to part of Awanas. This program is great at getting young kids to learn Bible Verses. G is a called Spark. He started the year with Book 1 and finished it back in March and started Book 2. Each week you have a Bible Verse to learn. You have to recite it to your Spark leader. He has had a blast getting to know new people, play games, and most importantly learning the Word of God.

Mother's Day

I had a great Mother's Day. I love my boys and the one on the way (still no name) so much. God has blessed me so much. I never thought I would be a mom to only boys. I always dreamed I would have at least one of each, but God had other plans. I'm gradually learning to be a boy mom and do things that I never thought I would do. G and M are each special in their own way. G is smart,passionate and motivated. M is caring, sensitive and loving.They started the day by bring me breakfast in bed, cinnamon rolls. G put candles on them and came into the room singing Happy Mother's Day. We opened presents, went to church, and had lunch at Strawns. We ended the day out at my in laws. The boys had fun playing with their cousins and being out in the country fishing and riding 4wheelers. I wouldn't change this day of all the tea in China. Thanks you Lord for this precious gift of children and may you bless all my friends out there that desire to have children.

This was my other gift. I can't wait to read it! I admire Laura Bush and if there could be any political or celeb I could meet it would be her. She is such a classy lady whom I respect. I have like her ever since she was the First Lady of Texas. As a side note, this time of year is hard on Dan since he has my birthday, Mother's Day and Anniversary all within three weeks. He does a great job of making each day special!

Yard Sales

I love to go to yard sales. It's like going on a treasure hunt. I especially like when I find items that I've been looking for at cheap prices. I love to have other people spend their money on the big ticket items, especially baby items. Baby items are the best to buy at yard sales since babies don't use the item for very long. There are some things that I will not buy like undergarments, bottles, stuffed animals to name a few. Yesterday was such a great day for yard sales. Grant and I left the house around 6ish and headed out. G loves to go with me. In the past, I've given him money to spend, but yesterday, I made him bring some of his own money. He bought a couple of action figures and this really neat wiggle racer car (which I'm on the hunt for another since the boys have been fighting over it). Saturday mornings have been turned into a special time for G and I to spend together and talk.
This is the loot. I spent between $35 and $40.

I found these jon jons and smocked outfits for a $1 a piece. I plan on saleing them at local consignment shop here in town where I can easily make $20 on each piece.
I also found a soft white patty blanket(.25)and precious,white, bib (.25), a couple of gowns and some LSU sleepers for the baby.

I found this Ralph Lauren Sweater for Dan for .50!! That was by far the best deal of the day. I also got a pack of white onesies that I plan on putting appliques on for presents. The shelf I'm going to strip and redo for the baby's room.

I found a couple a applique outfits for the fall for M for about $1 a piece. Also found some other fall clothes from the Children's place and Gap. Some stuffing to make pillows and 2 pillow cases that I'm going to try and turn into pillow case dresses for a friend.Some decorative stuff for the house and a Bumbo seat with tray for $5.

I found a couple of shirts and pants for G. Also these Adias shoes only worn a couple of times. I found my Halloween costume a flapper dress.

ArtBreak

Its been a long time since I've updated. At the request of some people,I'm updating! I'm not even going to try and catch ya'll up on what we have been doing,so I will try and make a post at least once a week.
Last Saturday, we went downtown to Artbreak. Artbreak is put on by the School District and other sponsors. It is a hands on arts festival for kids. The different schools draw, paint, etc.. different types of Media and enter it into the festival. Many schools take field trips during the week to take part in the event.

Amber's Wedding

I had the wonderful honor of being a bridesmaid in one of my very dear college friend's wedding. I flew to Knoxville,TN for the wedding. Amber is one of the sweetest, humblest, mission minded person I know. I have been praying for years for her to find a godly man who shared her values and a call for missions. She has found him in Jeremy. He is everything Amber needs and could ever ask for. He is man of God,been on mission trips, and wants to serve on the mission field, just like Amber!!! Their wedding was simple and beautiful! Amber works at a wonderful church where everyone chipped in and helped make their wedding day a special occasion. It was so good to get the girls together again. It had been 2 years since we ALL had been together. We are know spread out in 5 states (TN, Fl, LA, TX, AR). That makes it very hard to get everyone together. Now I'm praying for my sweet and funny friend, Ginny to find an amazing godly, West Texas farmer;)!!

Kindergarten

I've been MIA, but I'm going to try and do better. G has started Kindergarten. Which I can't believe that I'm old enough to have a child in grade school. Its been an adjustment going from a very small, loving, Christian preschool to a huge public school (+1,000). There are 8 kindergarten classes. For those who aren't familiar with the schools in Shreveport, they have magnet and neighborhood. We tested G for the magnet didnt get in (lots of drama!!!). Let's just say your score is not the only thing that gets you in to the schools. There are lots of other factors that decide if you get in or not. Anyways, all of G's friends have now been spread out to 5 different schools here in town. Thats been the hardest thing about it all. We struggled with sending him to private or neighborhood school. We prayed and prayed and we felt God leading us to our local public school. Which was a hard choice! Its a great school academically, just so big! The best thing about his school is that we walk him to and from school which has been wonderful!!! God gave us a wonderful godly teacher who graduated from the same college as we did. She also goes to our church, so I feel comfortable knowing she will not teach him things that we don't agree with. Another answer of prayer was for G to have one friend in his class. God answered this by bringing an old friend back into our lives. Kay, an old college friend and fellow Tri Chi sister, moved back to Shreveport and we reconnected through Facebook. She has a little boy the same age as G. We go them together for a couple of playdates this summer and they hit it off. Well, God placed them in the same kindergarten class. We were so happy!! G has loved kindergarten and is learning so much. He also has started Awanas and is quickly learning bible passages! We value his academic education,but most importantly we want him growing closer to God and learning His Word. So there might come a day, when we pull him out of public. Until then we will stay where God has placed us. That is what I've learned through this whole magnet/schooling situation. That God is in control and even though I didn't want to be at the school we are at, God knows what he is doing.

M's First Haircut

Well, I finally decided to get M's haircut. His hair was getting a little out of control. I really didn't want to cut since I knew he was going to look like a big boy and not a baby. When I had G's haircut for the first time we went really short and his curls never came back. So with M we were a little more conservative. His hair is different than G's. His is thicker and finer. As you can see from the pics he looks like a toddler now. I'm just happy that the curls are coming back now that his hair has grown some.

Mudbug Madness

I ran in my first 5K back at the end of May. I decided to run it after only running regularly for about a week. I have never been able to run the full thing and still can't, but I'm getting better. I ran/walked it in about 45min. I cried over my time because I was disappointed in myself. This week was the first time I was able to run a full mile without having to walk. At least I'm seeing an improvement there,because I sure dont see it on the scale! It is frustrating when I'm working my butt off everyday at the gym and watching what I eat and nothing happens. Why do I even bother. Anyways, our whole family is taking part in the Firecracker 5k on the the 4th of July. We are going to take turns pushing the stroller and G is going to run/walk. We hope to run a 5k once a month.

Wow! It's been a long time since I've posted. Grant graduated from Preschool, bittersweet. Still waiting to see where he'll go to Kindergarten. He will probably end up at our neighborhood school, but still holding out for a spot in Magnet since he is pretty low on the waiting list. G started T-ball and has done very well. Dan is coaching his team. We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary!! Still can't believe we've been married that long. Micah is growing like a weed and is talking more and more each day. Hopefully, I'll be better at updating here are some pics from the last month enjoy. As you can see its very hard now of days to get a good pic of M. He is constantly moving!

Back on April 5th our Sunday School class had a potluck and egg hunt. Our class has grown so much in the last 6 months. Its so exciting to see God working in the lives of young families. What is so great about our class is that you can see from the pics, we have lots of kids. Pretty much all the kids are under the age of 6.

Girls Trip to Dallas

We were a host home for 6th grade girls during DNOW weekend back on March 20-22. We had 10 girls and a college leader. We had a blast. The girls were wonderful and sweet. They have to grow up so much faster than I did. They are experincing things that I've never even knew existed until college or later. These girls need lots of prayers. God is doing a mighty thing amongest the youth of Broadmoor!

Back on the March 12th Micah had tubes put in his ears. He was great! We were in there at 6:00 am and home by 9:00am. So far he hasn't had any ear infections. He's had a cold since then and never developed one, so that's a good sign.

MOPS HOP

I LOVE MOPS!!! My MOPS group is the best. We have so much fun! I've made and met some really neat people who I never would have if I was part of this wonderful group. Our MOPS group is such an outreach ministry for Broadmoor Baptist. We have about 40 moms and of those 40 only about 12 are members at Broadmoor. I lot of them going to surrounding churchs, but some of them aren't even Christians. It so neat to be part of a group of women who have motherhood in common. It also sets the stage to bring Jesus into the conversation. If you aren't part of a group like MOPS, look for one.
Anyways, we had our yearly MOPS and POPS date night last Friday. We went with a 50's theme. I MADE my own poodle skirt. I was very impressed that I actually completed a sewing project. I can't wait to experiment with my machine. We had a bubble blowing contest and played Name That Tune to 50's music. Fun was had by all.

Ladies Night Out

Last Thursday was Ladies Night Out at church. They have this event twice a year. One in fall and one in the spring. Its been about year and half since I've been to one since it usually only the sweet white hair ladies, but I'm really trying to encourage my friends to get involved in the Women's Ministry. Each event has a theme and this time it was Reduce, Reuse. Kenya a girl from our Sunday School class shared their journey through infertility, adoption, and caring for her live in elderly grandma. Kenya and he husband are wonderful Godly people. They are most selfless people I know. Their love for Jesus, each other, and others shines through them. She did an amazing job of retelling their story. We all had a blast. The food was delicious (Shrimp Bisque) and then a bunch of us headed out to Starbucks. Can't wait until September for the next LNO.

Wacky Wednesday

Last week, Grant's preschool class talked about the letter "W". So on Wednesday, his school had Wacky Wednesday. I found these glasses and bow tie at the $1 store and everything else was in his dress up trunk or clothes from last summer. This kind of thing is right up Grant's alley. He loves dressing up and putting on a show. He got all into it and was helping me come up with an outfit. That morning he was into his character. When I dropped him off everyone was laughing at him and he was enjoying the attention. That afternoon when I picked him up his teacher said he was the wackiest of all the students! Of course Micah had to get in on the action too.

Boys Will be Boys

I never thought I would be a mother of all boys. Growing up I thought I would at least have one of each. But God has blessed me with two wonderful boys who are completely different from each other. My hearts desire is still to have a girl one day, how we have girl is still being prayed about, but I believe it will happen. Anyways, my boys are a lot fun. Grant is now at the age where is actually fun to be with. He went through a phase about a year, where all he did was whined and cried for us. Now he is so helpful, obedient, and an all around great little person. Micah is now at the age where he is into everything, follows his brother, and showing us his personality.
All this leads up to what I discovered the other day. We've been having some great Spring like temps here so we've been outside alot. The other day the boys were outside and I ran in the house to get something. While I was in the house, I heard the water hose. I quickly ran outside to see what they were doing. Grant had the water hose and was giving Micah a bath. Micah of course just stood there letting Grant soak him. I asked Grant to stop and he said,"Why? See he likes it." Micah was playing in the water and was covered in mud laughing about it. So I stripped them both down and we went in for the rest of the afternoon.

Fun with Silly Strung

The other day I was at a party store and they had a huge basket of clearance items. In the basket was a whole bunch of silly string. So I bought a couple of cans. We are always looking for fun things to do with the kids outside. So we wanted until Dan got home from work and had our silly string fight. The boys loved it. We had to keep an eye on Micah since he wanted to eat the string.

Future Figure Skater

On Saturday, I had the TV on figure skating just to have a little background noise. I left the room to grab something from the bedroom. I came back and found Micah spinning around. I was wondering what he was doing. Then he pointed to the TV and started doing it again. It was so funny. Of course Grant had to join in since we were laughing at Micah. He's been real jealous of Micah.

Masterpiece

I took Micah to storytime last week for the first in about a month. He was so shy and stayed in my lap during most of the hour. We usually leave after the music and story part,but I decided to see how he would do during the activity part. They had markers and a coloring sheet for them to color. Markers were a bad idea. He had them all over his hands and face. He even was licking his paper trying to lick the marker off the page! He made a lovely piece of art which is hanging proudly on my fridge!

Micah is so fun to play with now. I think my favorite age is from 15 months to 3yrs. They learn something new everyday and are acutal "real" people. Micah is now able to play with Grant. I use that term loosely because Micah likes to ruin whatever Grant is playing with. Micah adores Grant and follows him all around the house. The other day, Grant wanted to play dress up and he wanted Micah to play too. Here's a pic of them. I think Micah looks like one of the bird guards from Robin Hood!

Kelly went to the same college and was in the same social club as me. She graduated a few years before me,but we have a lot of mutual friends. Kelly and Scott have been trying for a couple of years to have baby. God blessed them in April. Yesterday she had Harper around 7:00pm. There were some problems. Long Lost Friend

I love facebook!! Facebook has given me the chance to get back in touch with so many old friends. This is great for a person like me who has moved to a different town about every 3 years since I was 5 yrs old. The longest I have ever lived in one place is 6 years that was in Belize. I've now been in Shreveport 5yrs. Anyways, facebook has helped me get back into contact with my friend, Tracy. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding and we kind of lost contact with each other when I moved to Jackson, Ms. Well, facebook has reunited us and she happened to be in Shreveport last week on her way home to Branson. I met up with her a Superior and we chatted for awhile. It was long, but I'm blessed that we were able to spend just that short time together. It made me realize how much I miss seeing her and spending time with her. We hope to get up to Branson and visit with her family.

Christmas Party, haircut, McDonald's and a car wash

G had his class party last Thursday, so I went up to the school to see him and take part in the fun activities. There was no lunch bunch so we had to 2 hours to spend together before we had to pick up M from MDO. G loves to spend time with me or Dan without Micah around. So we went and got a much needed haircut, had lunch at McDonalds(yummy?!!,and got a few last minute Christmas presents before picking up M. After we picked M up we headed over to the car wash. I guess I've never had M with me when I've had my car wash because he had a fit. He was screaming, crying, and trying to get out of his carseat. G on the other hand loves the car wash.

Advent

We had the honor of lighting the Advent candle Sunday at church. This is the second week of Advent. I never really understood Advent until recently and I've been reading a book by Lisa Welchel (Facts of Life fame) called Adventures in Christmas. Its a book filled with hands on ideas to teach your kids about Advent during the Christmas season. So far we have only done one activity and that was about candy canes. The book tells you about the orgin of the candy cane and how they came about. The activity for that day is making candy cane reindeers, pass them out to people and explain the meaning. I had Grant take a bag for his show and tell last week since they were talking about the letter C. During show and tell, they have to describe their object and he explained the story of the candy cane.
The next activity is making Christmas Trees out of sugar cones and decorating them with candy. Then we will read and learn about the history of the Christmas tree. We won't be able to get to every project and day because I just got the book a couple of days ago.
We are trying really hard to teach Grant the real meaning of Christmas and all that it entails. Another book I recomend is A Fruitcake Christmas by: Max Lucado. We are making this book a new tradition in our family. We are going to read it on Christmas Eve instead of The Night Before Christmas.What are some of your traditions?

Happy Birthday, Dan!!!

Today is my wonderful husbands birthday! He is now officially in his 30's. We aren't doing much today especially since the weather is so yucky! We had dinner last night at some friends house. Grant decorated the cake and helped wrap the presents. He kept asking me where dad was having his party and what friends were coming. I told him that adults don't usually have big parties like kids. He was very disappointed and wanted to know why. I couldn't give me a very clear answers, but sometimes I wish I could have a party like Grant and his friends. As for Micah he doing well, but I think he might be getting another ear infection.

Little Trouble Maker

Does this child look like he can get into trouble? This is how we found him last night about 8:30pm when he should be sleeping. He was in there playing and taken the animal rings and made braclets out them. It's amazing how different each child can be in a family. Grant is very type A, funny, craves attention, loves to be around people,etc.. We are just now starting to see what kind of personality he is going to have. He is funny, can be anal (he separates his food into different piles), loves rountines, curious and sneaky. This past week he has done many things that I have found myself recording in his baby book and saying Grant never did this! Here is what he's been up too. He's pulled down the Christmas tree, he threw Grant's fairly new leapster in the potty, poured out a whole box of cherrios and was laughing so hard and throwing them in the air. Oh, I do have my house childproof but he seems to get into things after Grant has left things open or follows him before I get a chance to fix it again. Today top it all. I put Micah down for his nap and came to the computer to check me e-mail. I was on the computer maybe 15 mins and then I went to check on him since I heard him pushing. I was going to change his diaper before he fell asleep. Well, I peek around the corner, I see him sitting in the crib playing and throwing a little ball. I look further in the room. Guess what I saw, yep, you're right he had managed to take off his diaper and was playing with his poop. It was everywhere!!!! I even think he was eating it since his face was brown. For those who know me, I have a very weak stomach, but I managed to get it cleaned up and Micah washed. He was crying the whole time I was washing him! I'm guessing we are in for adventure with Micah since I'm learning I can't leave him alone for a second and he's not even a year and half.

Circus

We went to the circus last Sunday afternoon. It was the first time for Grant and Micah. Micah loved the dog act they had and Grant loved the clowns. I wasn't able to take a lot of pics due to it being dark. We really impressed how well Micah did since we were a little worried he would be fussy since it was during his nap time, but he stayed awake the whole time. He crashed when we got home. A couple of weeks ago our church had a serve night instead of Sunday night service. Our small group decided to hand out water bottles at two different parks to get our kids involved. We had a great time passing out water and tell them Jesus loves them. We didn't have an opportunity to share the gospel, but we hope we planted some seeds.

Chili Cookoff

Last Friday night, our Sunday school class had a chili cookoff party out at my in-laws. Richie and Chris had the winning chili and they made a big announcement that they are expecting which we have been praying for for quite awhile. Dan's chili came in 2nd to last out of 9 different chilies. I guess his chili didn't have much kick to it. The party was lots of fun and there were kids everywhere! All the kids in our class are under the age of 5 and they were about 15 kids running around.
Dan and I enjoy teaching our class so much. It is amazing to see how God is and has worked in our class during the last two years. This past Sunday we had to take down the tables and use chairs only. We are offically out of space in our room and there is no where to move. The people in our class have such a love for God and have a desire to grow closer and be in the word. I'm excited to see how and what God has in store for our class in the future.Plus it's bonus when everyone in there has children the same or near your kids ages.

Fun with a Box

I had a Southern Living at Home party a few weeks ago and the order came in last week. The items came in 5 huge, heavy duty boxes. G of course wanted to keep some to play with so we let him have 2 boxes. The boys have had hours of fun with the box, but I have already told him they are going in the trash on Monday since they are falling apart.

First Trip to the Dentist

G was out of school for the election. I'm not posting a blog about that because I don't want to get into politics. Anyways, he got to go to the dentist for the first time. We were in and out within 20 mins. He was so good and could not have asked for him to be more perfect. I was little worried since he has a bad gag reflex, he never gagged. The dentist said his teeth were perfect and we don't even need to floss since there is so much room between his teeth. She said he might never have to have braces since there is so much room for his other teeth to come in later!! The best part about the visit for G was the fact they had to TV's on the ceiling for the kids to watch movies. That day they were playing Ratatouille. We'll go back in May!

Grant's first hunting trip

Last Saturday, we went out to my in-laws, so that Dan could take G squirrel hunting. G did pretty well. He lasted about 30 min. before he was ready to head back to the house. So pawpaw brought him back and Dan stayed out in the woods to hunt a little longer. He came back with one squirrel. Micah and I stayed at the house, played and visited with family. I'm sure this is the first of many hunting pics and stories!

A date with Grant

Grant and I had a date last week. I picked him up early from preschool and we went bowling. Dan swung by for a few minutes to say hi and bowl little before heading back to work. Then Grant ran some errands with me before we picked Micah up from MDO. He was so excited to spend a few hours just with me without having to share me. I believe I'll try to make it a monthly date.

Halloween 2008

This year Grant dressed as the UPS man and was eo excited every time he saw the UPS truck. He would yell out, "Hey, that's what I'm going to be." Micah was a monkey since we call him the chunky monkey. He was really good about keeping his costume on, but he did he get a little hot in it. We went to church for the fall fest and then out to the P's to go trick or treating.

Mercy Me

Dan and I and a couple of other friends from church went to the Bebo Norman and Mercy Me concert over at Summer Grove. It was wonderful. Bebo performed for about
30 min and then Mercy Me came on and was on stage for almost 3 hours. The concert was real relaxed and a wonderful worship time. I told Dan that this is how I want to go to concerts. There were about 2000 people and you felt like you were in their living room. I was able to get my picture taken with Bart, lead singer for Mercy Me. His teeth are so white. They had a Q&A time during the question and one of the guys with us wanted to ask him how he gets his teeth so white.

New Hair Do

For those who don't know. I drastically changed my hair two weeks ago. I went in wanting a little red put in and she colored it very red and dark. I took me awhile to get used to it. The first couple of days I thought it looked purple. I'm now liking it. It makes my eyes look very green, but I do have to wear more makeup. I think I'm going to keep the color and maybe add blonde highlights in the Spring. Now I just want it to grow long again. G asked me this morning when I was going to be blonde again because my red hair makes me look like a clown. Oh the wonderful words of preschoolers.

Pumpkin Patch

Last Wednesday, the ladies in our small group had a shower for Jessica at El Chico's. We had a great turn out. Jessica is having her 2nd girl in Nov. I can't wait to meet her when she gets here. She'll have lots of cute little outfits to wear.

Revel 2008

The Revel was two weeks ago and we went on the last day. I love going to the Revel. It means fall is near, cooler temps, fun paintings and interesting art to check out, lots of good food, and fun for the kids. We got there as soon as it opened, less crowds and it was cooler. We let the Grant do all the kid activites. We tried to get Micah to get his face painted. He did not like that. His favorite part was the grocery store. He loved pushing the cart around and filling it up with goodies. He didn't know what to think of the sand at the sand and water table. Grant enjoyed Sutton's children's area and getting his picture made with Alpha Pig from Super Why. If you have never seen this show,its on PBS and really helps kids read. We all enjoyed some meat pies and funnel cake and head home for a birthday party for one of Grant's friends from school.

MOPS Convention

A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to go to the MOPS convention in Dallas. Four of us from our steering team went; Kathy, Wendy, Lisa, and me. Lauren and Kristy were going to go but they are still nursing their babies and weren't able to come. I also ran into Tara while we were there. We stayed at the Texan Gaylord. We go the hear Plumb,Jaci Valaquez and her husband, and Go Fish perform. Kim Hill lead the praise portion of the service. We missed hearing Avalon since we had to leave early to get back home. I went to some really good workshops. Dr. Gary Chapman spoke about marriage, really good. Then there was one on Kid Concoctions that you can make using everyday items you have at home or from the dollar store. I bought the book and can't wait to make some fun stuff for the boys. My favorite session was on Living with Boys, the speaker was from Co. and has three teenage boys. She was cracking us up with things they have done and how she has had to change since she is rasing boys. The one thing that stood out was the our boys are looking and watching their moms, because we are what they think all girls will be like and compare them to us. It also made me be content with the fact that God blessed me with boys. I will probably always long to have a little girl (I think every girl does, but I'm now okay with only having boys.

We started MOPS once again. We have over fifty moms and mentors!! We also have a waiting list since childcare is full. I love MOPS!! Every year it keeps getting better. This year the theme is Adventures in Motherhood so all our decorations and speakers are focused on theme parks, carnivals, etc.. The topic has been so fun to plan. I'm leaving this Thursday to go to the annual MOPS convention. This year the convention is in Dallas. So we are staying at the Texan Gaylord. I'm looking forward to all the different sessions and concerts.
If you are pregnant or have a child up to 1st grade you should check to see if you have a MOPS group in your area. You will leave each meeting feeling encouraged and refreshed.

1st Soccer Game of the year

Grant had his first game this morning. He has the same coach and most of the same players. Three left the team, so we have 3 new friends. They did really well today. A lot better than last year. I love how they don't keep score and let the kids just have fun.

Cotton Patch

Grant had his first field trip on Wed. He wanted Dan to go with him so I stayed home with Micah which was a good thing since he's been fussy and not feeling well. He's been cutting two teeth a week for the last three weeks. Anyway, Grant and his class went out to a farm and picked cotton. He seemed to have a good time.

Last Monday, I was driving down our road and noticed a blue swimming pool in someone's trash pile. I called Dan and asked him to stop and look at it on his way home from work. He came home with it. It was in great shape, just a little dirty. So with a little bleach and muscle power, it looks almost brand new. This pool is made out of hard plastic so it should last a couple of years.

Reruns

Reruns was this week. Its a big consignment sale. They have it twice a year, once in the fall and once in spring. I used to be able to get lots of good stuff at these sales, but last couple of years more and more people are coming to it. Which means the clothes get picked over pretty quickly. They also have been having lots of stains and priced to high. I mainly go looking for church clothes. This time I spent about $50 and got Micah: 5 outfits, a monkey costume for Halloween, some toys and 2 DVDs. I wasn't able to find any clothes for Grant priced at a good price. A lot of his stuff I can get cheaper brand new. So I got him some Clifford books, a brand new Clifford game, and an Icee Machine (he was with me when I dropped my clothes off to sale and he saw this machine and begged me to buy it when I came back)We used it once and it broke!! I'm glad I didn't spend full price for it at the store! There's another one coming up at the end of the month Growing Pains which I like a lot more. So I will hit that one up too.

Pancake Breakfast

This morning Grant's preschool had a pancake breakfast for the parents to come out and meet the teachers and see the classrooms. It was kinda of wet because of Ike so there wasn't that many people that showed up. We ate some good pancakes and bacon. Grant was so excited to show us his classroom. I didn't even think of taking pictures of the room.

Lunch with Friends

Thursday I met up with some friends for lunch. It was so wonderful to go out to eat without any kids around. I was able to enjoy my meal and not feel rush or have to feed Micah. We went to a new Bistro on Line. They have delicious sandwiches and quick service.

Micah started Mother's Day Out

Micah started MDO on Tuesday. He cried when I dropped him off, but I think he was crying because others were crying. They said he did well for them except at lunch time. He did not want his baby food. We are having such a problem with him eating baby food and table food. All he wants is his bottle. He kept trying to take the other kids bottles and throwing his sippy cup down every time they gave it to him. I had a bottle waiting for him when I picked him up at 2, he saw it, got the biggest grin on his face and downed it with in 5 mins. He came home and took a 3hour nap.

Catching up

I know I haven't done a real blog in awhile but things have been crazy. Most of you know that we had a miscarriage two weeks ago. We found out we were pregnant at the beginnning of July. It came as a huge surprise to us.Just when we were getting used to the idea and getting excited about the pregnancy, I went in for a normal ultrasound and check up and they found no heartbeat. It was almost two years to the day that we had our 1st miscarriage. So I had to have a D&C the next day. We are doing pretty well. It has kind of been easier this time around if that makes any sense. I know God has a reason for all this to happen again and we are trying to figure it out. Our Sunday School class has been wonderful to us. They have kept our boys and brought food to us for two weeks. God has truly blessed our class and its so amazing to see God work in the lives of friends.

We went to my parents at the end of July. My brother and his family were in from Canada and we had a great visit. Make sure you pick up the December issue of HOMELIFE magazine because there will be article about my family's Christmas traditions inside.

Grant started preschool. He will be going MWF from 9-12 and TTH 9-2. He loves his new teacher and 12 new friends in his class. He was so ready to go back. He told me he is ready to read on his own. Micah will start Mother's Morning Out next week. I can't believe he will be one in three weeks. He's getting so big.

Dan is busy with work and ready for hunting season to start. I'm busy with MOPS starting back and being a mom. Well that's about all. Hopefully, I'll do better updating.

Summer is about half way over and G is already asking when he gets to go back to preschool. I keep telling him not until the end of August. G is a very social kid who constantly wants to go places and do things. He is not good about playing by himself. We are working so hard on this concept. I think a lot of it comes from being the first child. So with M we are already putting him in his from for short periods of time to get used to playing by himself. We never did this with G. Anyways, this has been the first week since June that we have had nothing planned and I knew G would be driving me crazy for something to do. So I told him on Monday, he had to play by himself while I got dressed, had my quite time, cleaned the house and took care of M. Then when M went down for his morning nap I would be all his until M woke. He didn't like this idea at first, but he's now used to it.
While M is sleeping we've been working on a letter of the day and doing craft projects and games. A friend from college posted this link http://www.notimeforflashcards.com/ on her blog and we've been using a lot of those ideas. G's behavior has been so good this week since my attitude is good and gets to spend time with me for 2hours each morning. Here are some pics from our first day.

We spent last week at the SanDestin Resort with some friends. We had a blast. I have never seen so many people at the beach in my life. We spent the early morning at the beach, afternoons by the pool, and went for early dinners to beat the crowds. M loved the sand and ate is fair share of it. G seemed to enjoyed the beach a lot more this year than last. We saw an amazing firework show from our balcony on the 18th floor. Can't wait to go back next year, but not during the 4th!!

I love to find good deals on food, clothing, basically anything. Well, today I needed to go to the mall to return a shirt to Gymboree. I'm glad I did because they are having an amazing sale. I love this store, but hardly ever go because they are pricey, but they have great sales. I was the only one in the store and the sales lady pulled all the sizes I needed that were on sale. I ended up buying 36 items for $160. I came home and added each ticket. If I would of spent full price I would of spent $730!!!!!!!!!!!!Now I have fall and winter clothes for both boys, plus I bought some stuff for my brother's kids. Here are pictures of the items.

Well, we have been very busy around! May ended with us going to Arkansas for Memorial Day weekend with a group from church, swimming at the pool, and G's 4th Birthday.(I'll try to post pics today)June started with Micah crawling. Life as we know it has changed. I can only get on the computer at naptime or after they are in bed at night, which leaves little time. G's been going to camp at church and at school. This week he's learning about all things Louisiana. We been going to the pool almost everyday. Micah loves the water.He's been fussy lately, but we think it's due to his teeth. I know this is random, but that's our life right now.

Last day of G's 3yr old preschool class

Friday was the end of G's school year. It was bittersweet. I have to admitt that I cried. His teacher made a scrapbook of pictures for them to keep as a memory of 3yr old preschool He is getting so big. He no longer looks like a toddler or preschooler, but a "real" boy. He has grown up so much this year. They had a program on Friday. Each child had a part in a song. G's role was the wind in the song "Five Little Kites" Enjoy the video. Early Birthday

G's preschool class celebrated all summer birthday's this past Wed. So G got to be the leader, hold the flag in chapel and bring in a treat for his classmates. He brought doughnuts with sprinkles for all his friends. He was so excited to be the leader and be on stage. We are having his birthday party on May 30th at our house. He wanted a pirate theme, so that's what we are going to do complete with a treasure hunt.

Busy Weekend

We had a very busy weekend. This weekend started the birthday season for us. Most of Grant's friends have birthdays May-August. Saturday we had two parties to go to. The first one was for a little girl and she had a My Little Pony theme. Grant got to ride a real pony at this party. Then we had a Thomas the Train party that afternoon. This party had a blow up water slide which the kids loved. Yesterday, Dan took Grant to the air show at Barksdale AFB. Grant loved every minute of it. He came home so excited and shared all he had seen.

MOPS and POPS

Friday night we had a date night for all the MOP moms and dads. We had a Luau Theme. We played Limbo, Hula Hoop contest, and the Newlywed game. We had a blast. Kristy won Limbo, Ben won the Hula Hoop contest and the Carothers won the Newlywed game.I highly recomend anyway who has a child birth to kindergarten to join MOPS. I'm on the steering team of our MOPS group and its such a encouraging and renewing time knowing their are other moms going through the samething I am. Dan surprised me with a 4 day trip to Belize for my birthday. For those who don't know my parents were missionaries to Belize during my middle and high school years. Dan flew my mom in to watch the boys. We had lots of fun. We basically relaxed on the beach. We tried to sleep in, but with sun pouring in our windows, we were awake by 6:00am!!!!!

It's been awhile since I've updated. We've been pretty busy lately with soccer, surprise party for Lauren, my 30th birthday, trip to Belize, sickness, MOPS, end of the year, etc.. So in order to catch up I'll be posting different slide shows. Hopefully I'll be better at blogging.

Spelling and Writing

The other day, the boys and I were outside playing with chalk. I looked over at G and he had written a L an a O. I asked him what he was writing, he said LOVE. I then asked him what letters came next he quickly said V and E. I was so surprised. I had no idea he knew how to spell and write the word LOVE. Lately, he has been asking us what letters different objects begin with and how it sounds. So we've been giving him words to spell like cat, rat, nap, map,etc. We also recently discovered two great shows on PBS Word World and Super Why. It's amazing to see how much he is learning these days!
